Going Green? I assume you mean Eco friendly. If that is what you mean then nothing, there are no harmful effects of “not going green”. You use less water, recycle more, and ride your bike instead of drive. I suppose it saves money. That is always good in a world like this one. Other than saving money, there is absolutely no proof that recycling or buying “green products” helps the environment. I do agree however that there is no proof because there has been no research as of yet.

Lot of advantages are attached to going green. Biologically, Carbon dioxide is taken up by green plants as a result reducing excess Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Going ever Green, reduces the ozone depletion.
Going ever Green beautifies environment, thereby producing a good ventilation to animals.

Well, going “green” to me is sort of a misnomer since I have no way of proving that it has any meaningful impact on the environment. To me it’s more about economics. If I can produce and conserve more of my own energy at home through systems that have the capacity to pay for themselves over their lifespan, that’s money I don’t have to pay to the electric company. If I can produce more of my own food at home, that’s money I don’t have to pay to the grocer (and presumably I’ll be eating healthier so that’s money I don’t have to spend at the doctor too). If I buy locally manufactured goods, that’s money I’m not sending to other countries, which I think is a good thing even if I have to pay a little more for goods made here. If I plant trees on my property, that’s money I can recoup down the road if I sell my house. I think if we extrapolate that all out, we’d be a much healthier and wealthier nation.

One of the reasons I have decided to use earth friendly products was learning what was in my cleaning and beauty supplies. There are a host of chemicals that can harm you in many of the products we use in our homes. Since we don’t eat these things they aren’t required to put the ingredients on the label, so it is hard to tell what is in them. Here are a few items I avoid. We absorb about 40% of what goes onto our skin, so you are putting these chemicals into your system when you use them.

Bleach, when mixed with hot water it becomes a vapor and damages lunges. It is found in almost all bathroom cleaners.
Ammonia, damages lungs as well.
Antibacterial anything, this is a fungicide. Triclosan is the common one found in soaps, deodorants, face cleansers, body spray, etc. It is a dioxin and is known to cause cancer, reproductive toxicity, endocrine and organ system toxicity and it builds up in the body. It is already banned or restricted in Canada and Japan. Not to mention many scientists and Dr.s believe we are creating super viruses by the over use of antibacterial soaps and hand cleansers.

Cosmetics are even worse, many mimic hormones and are believed to increase the risk of both ****** and uterine cancers. Many have formaldehyde and other strong preservatives. Fragrances are another group of harmful chemicals that are known to increase the risk of cancers, reproductive, endocrine and organ toxicity.

You could exaggerate your story by animating someone that throws away everything in the course of a day from when they get up in the morning to right before they go to bed at night. Then you can put a landfill nearby where it gets so full that it overspills into the perpetrator’s yard. It would be very dramatic but nonetheless absolutely hilarious because people probably still do it.

The harmful effects of not going green are running out of gasoline. If we don’t have gas, we don’t have a use for personal vehicles.

We would either run out of water or we would not be able to drink it because it’s too polluted.

We would not be able to breathe fresh air because we wouldn’t be doing anything about it.

I hope it helps…if the question is still open I can come back and think of different things.

you should talk about a few “going green” tips. There’s quite a few simple ways that everyone would understand.

Here’s a link with a list of them
