China is going to kill us. Starting this year they are producing more greenhouse gases than the US. They have refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty.

It has to be a global effort or its not going to make much of a difference.

Why should I take any responsibility for the current pollution problems?
I am a voter and have been voting with the party who has been wanting more regulation and less pollution.

The oil companies while cleaning up after Ike supposedly just burnt off the oil…..

A person can live in snow country and live without heat.

I think that it does need to be a global effort, and if we don’t cut down on pollution, that it will eventually come down to the people with the most money will be able to live in ultra-filtered places cut off from pollution, while those that can’t afford it suffer.

Humans are very resourceful and capable of survival - that has been demonstrated in the thousands of years humans have lived. But living without pollution is not only nicer, it’s more healthy.

Yes, we need China on board to help cut down greenhouse gases, but how can we point the finger at them when our own governments aren’t doing enough to help? They are following our lead - the western countries were the ones to start using unrenewable resources for energy and creating greenhouse gases and pollution. We can’t exactly tell them to go green when our countries aren’t. It’s a lot easier to lead by example.

The only thing we can do is take personal responsibility and be as environomentally aware as possible. Your efforts should include getting involved with organizations that promote awareness, as well as become aware of what is going on politically and write or email your elected officials to let them know how you want them to vote. Be the change you want to see.
