You see, we should be very thankful that we are born in this modern generation due to the existence of the Internet. With the Internet, all information (whether about blogging and educational environment or any other such as sidekick ii, private blog, free blog for website or even the pink is the new blog) can be found with ease on the Internet, with great articles like this.

If only the millions of people currently web logging could understand that they do not need high traffic to make money, it would make a huge difference. However, first and foremost, it is important to understand that you will need to completely change your approach. The whole idea is that there is stuff that is best suited only to high traffic sites, just like there are things that work best with low traffic sites only. There are also certain things that work well with both low traffic and high traffic sites. The tricky part is getting to recognize them.

If you like to write, and are searching for a new place to display your work, web logging may be the answer you have been searching for. There are a few webs logging tips that you should keep in mind before starting. First off, there are many webs logging sites that will allow you to have your own web page for free. This free web logging sites can be found through a simple Internet search. Of course, if you want to get more serious about your blog you can register your own domain name and compile your blog there. Another tip to keep in mind is that if you do not want to write about your personal life, web logging for business may still be right for you. There are thousands of businesses that also run blogs as a way for their customers, and prospective customers, to stay notified. Web logging for business has taken off in the small business sector over the past year, and it is surely going to reach a wider audience as word gets around.

A RSS subscription option is crucial. You should not be afraid of it. Don’t run from it. If you want people to read your blog regularly then you have to make it easy for them to do so. Having an “enter your email here” box is a nice start. However, if I have 25 blogs I read, I am not going to want 25 different emails coming to me each time someone updates.

If as related to blogging and educational environment as this article is, and it still doesn’t answer all your needs, then don’t forget that you can conduct more search on any of the major search engines like Google to get more helpful blogging and educational environment information.

Setting up your blog to target a niche market is one of the best things you can do with your blog, provided you know the craft and have the requisite skills to run it successfully to start generating instant traffic (through syndication or RSS) and possibly start earning as well.

This really is a general overview of web logging for money, which is a big picture. However, do be reassured of its relative ease. The most important thing is just to make a start. Identify what you wish to write the blog about, register a free web logging account at BlogSpot or Word press, and then start posting! After that, you will surely pick up hints and tips about monetization and driving traffic along the way. Many internet marketers will confirm that blog optimization is a lifelong learning process, so do not feel you have to get it right first time. Web logging for money should be fun, so ensure you enjoy the process.

There is certainly nothing new about the idea of web logging, and yet many business owners and Internet entrepreneurs don’t seem to grasp the power of this simple strategy. This is evidenced by the fact that many business websites do not include a blog.

It might interest you to know that lots of folks searching for blogging and educational environment also got information related to another blog site list , bureaucracy, and even free blog system here with ease.

Steve Evans asked:

g environment is one where the pollution of the past is remediated and cleaned with time to remove existing historic risk to the environment and public health. A cleaning environment implies a return of the natural endemic local ecology, and is an ideal to strive for.

We need to create a cleaning environment if our marvels of science and technology are going to be matched, and not outweighed, by many current tragedies, including human starvation in some parts of the world and extinction of other life forms. Global warming is taking place and is an increase in the Earth\’s average temperature. This, in turn, causes climate changes. Global warming also could cause droughts and disrupt agriculture.

A cleaning environment means not despoiling the remaining parts of the world which are still undeveloped. Globally, indigenous people inhabit areas with some of the highest remaining biodiversity on the planet and are actively being engaged as partners in biodiversity conservation. Issues of sustainable development, resource management and ecological restoration all include native stakeholders. Global harmony is possible, yet confrontations take place more often than meaningful dialogues for peace. Our science and technology has done much good, but if we are not careful its unimagined polluting effects will be matched, if not outweighed, by the many, including depletion of resources which is destroying the possibility for people to bring up children in a clean environment.

In some parts of the world extinction of other life-forms is growing apace. It is ironic that exploration of outer space will now only take place at the same time the earth\’s own oceans, seas, and freshwater areas while they grow increasingly polluted and their life-forms are still largely unknown and where known are probably misunderstood.

However, it is not impossible to return to a green and clean environment. Obama will soon take over the Presidency and clearly intends to take very positive action. .The world became weary that would ever Bush rein in the polluters and close the so-called grandfather loophole as the air in Texas becomes ever smoggier. Never forget though that Bush may have had his arm twisted, but he did concede that humans are causing climate change. It may have taken many a sleepless night in Bali, but his representatives did agree to draw up a post-Kyoto treaty by 2009.

In the US the general public are beginning to take on-board their profligate use of energy. Just look at recent statistics in the US for big car sales. SUV sales are down by 50%, car sales are down 50%, but small, fuel efficient cars, hybrid cars, diesel cars are up 40%.

So here we can start to shift our thinking. The US may soon start to take her place among the nations seeking a clean, or if not clean, then cleaning environment

Greenhouse emissions do not poison people, or lakes or woods, in the direct or obvious way that noxious chemicals do. But at least in the medium term, they clearly alter the earth in ways that harm the welfare of all and the poor more than the affluent.

One relatively clean energy technology cited as a possible stop-gap while renewable energy sources can be fully developed is nuclear power. It is the rich industrialized countries like France, Sweden, Japan (and many others) who are the biggest users of nuclear energy. Although new nuclear technologies reduce the problem of nuclear waste-management, and make it much more manageable, many in the west prefer to force oil-based energy use in oil-poor countries like India.

A method of cleaning technology is carbon sequestering of CO2. Carbon sequestering is obtained by chemically binding the CO2 in a material that will not dissolve in water or release CO2 with time. This eliminates the need to sequester pure CO2. IF the power generators sequester their CO2 they won’t need to buy carbon credits. Carbon credits have been called the modern day Papal indulgences for rich people. We don\’t accept hypocrisy from our preachers, they say, so I don\’t give eco-preachers an easy ride on this hypocrisy. Carbon credit administration is so bureaucratic and expensive that it is hard to justify perpetuating, on that basis alone, but in reality it will not bring us the cleaning environment we need and seek.

We talked about Nuclear energy as a part of cleaning the environment. Is it really so bad? It brings economic benefits from new jobs created to run new plants. It is like adding $500 million a year to the economy for each new plant brought on line. Nuclear currently accounts for about 20% of electricity generation in the UK. When all nuclear plants except Sizewell B in Suffolk are closed by 2020, the nuclear contribution will fall to some 4%. Many say that to burn coal would mean replacing this capacity would be a backward move and far from moving to a cleaning environment be the opposite.

Science doesn\’t reveal the best course of human actions. It gives us information that is factored into decision making. Now the decision making needs to be that of guiding the scientists away from any technologies that are not sustainable and do not promote a cleaning environment.

Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Hydrogen fuel cells help the environment a great deal, and its’ development makes it a good alternative fuel. Even though hydrogen fuel cell technology helps to save the environment by preventing global warming, we need to investigate all the facts surrounding it and understand how it all works.

The good thing that has come out of developing hydrogen fuel cells is that it is the cleanest burning fuel to come about. Hydrogen is used as a gas when it has been taken out of water and put into fuel cells, so that it can then be used to power a vehicle. Water vapour is the only emission from a vehicle powered by fuel cell. It is like a giant humidifier fit for the world. However, there are downsides to related to hydrogen fuel cells and the environment.

If the system of producing hydrogen, storing and also transporting is entirely efficient, the principles of it suggest that there would be no gas emissions.

Researchers show that that this kind of system proves very expensive, and that in fact about 10-20% of hydrogen is likely to escape into the earth’s atmosphere. If, for example, hydrogen fuel cells were used in place of gas-based and oil combustion technologies, the total of hydrogen deposits into the air would double or triple at the surface of the Earth.

Once hydrogen hits the stratosphere, some researchers say that it would oxidise, cooling the stratosphere, and so cloud formations would increase. In the North and South poles, the polar vortex would take longer to break up, so increasing the size of the holes already in the ozone layer and make them long-lasting. An estimated 5-8% rise in depleted ozone due to this excess hydrogen would occur at the North Pole and at the South Pole about 3-7%.

All this excess of ozone depletion cannot be measured exactly, as there is no known figure of unknown quantities which it is reliant on. As the amount of future hydrogen emissions cannot be measured, it is not understood how much hydrogen soil can absorb from the atmosphere. Researches that it is possible for this process to compensate for any of the new emissions dispersed into the atmosphere.

It is true to say that hydrogen fuel cells can actually be safer for the environment long term when used as a fuel alternative. As water vapour is the only emission resulting from using hydrogen fuel cells, this is a much better advantage and outweighs the use of gas powered cars which burn and produce emit toxic waste into the air.

All in all hydrogen fuel cells is more promising than other available alternative fuels, and much better all round for the environment. The advantages of hydrogen as alternative exceed the disadvantages and looks to be the best way forward.

Victoria K. Munro asked:

How efficient is your workspace? You’ll be much more productive working in a pleasant, comfortable and convenient environment. As the New Year gets under way, it may be time to think about an office makeover.

Comfort

When you start a business, it’s easy to cut costs, work wherever is convenient, use extra furniture you have on hand and then simply get used to that environment. Take a fresh look at your workspace.

Pay attention to the ergonomics of your office. If you spend a significant amount of time at your desk, invest in a comfortable chair and supports your back and positions you at the correct height and angle to work. Make sure that your keyboard and monitor are at the right height and angle to avoid unnecessary physical strain.

Convenience

Design your office layout to fit the way you work. Time spent designing and setting up good filing systems (both paper and electronic) is a worthwhile investment. Make sure that these systems work for you — that they are logical, easy to access and flexible to cope with business growth and change. Designating a specific place for everything, and putting things back in their assigned place after using them, can save hours of searching for misplaced items. Keep papers, files, books and equipment you use frequently close at hand.

Often, it’s the little things that we quickly become used to, that waste our time and increase stress levels: desk drawers that don’t open properly, placement of the phone, books referred to often that are kept across the room.

If you use your vehicle as a secondary office, make sure that everything you’re likely to need is organized and within easy reach. Perhaps carry a small portable file box containing any forms or documents you might need, basic office supplies and a good flashlight. Keep it well stocked. The cover may serve as a writing surface when you need one.

Enjoyable Environment

Dave has strengths in many areas, but he isn’t naturally an organized person. Last year we noticed that he was spending less and less time in his office. It had become cluttered, confusing and it was seldom easy to find what he needed quickly. He simply didn’t enjoy working there any more. We took time out to plan and redesign the entire office. We designed a new desk, computer center, storage and shelving areas, and had them built. We created new electronic and paper filing systems. He now loves working in his office. He is organized, efficient and more productive. Our physical environment can make an enormous difference to our productivity and how we feel! Don’t underestimate the value of this.

Several years ago, I made a wish list of what was important to me in an office. My criteria included: bright light and sunshine, windows through which I could see the sky, trees and green grass, flowers around me, and all files organized and within easy reach. I have thoroughly enjoyed my ‘dream office’ for more than four years now.

During the holidays, I spent two days designing and creating a filing system that matches the growth of our business. It wasn’t a lot of fun, but the results are rewarding — knowing instantly where to find everything is a big plus. Getting organized takes time but will save time, stress and frustration in the long run.

Roger Munns asked:

Tenerife is one of the seven Canary Islands off the coast of Africa and a favourite destination in the winter for European holidays, and the island is now looking at how it can improve it’s environmental record, in both the public and private sectors.

Tenerife and Tourism

The island of Tenerife is almost completely dependent on tourism, and is a particular favourite for British tourists.

Known among many in the UK as ‘Paradise Island’ Tenerife is sunny year-round, which makes it the perfect destination for relaxing in the sun any time of the year. And they want to keep the tourists coming back.

Going green and protecting the environment is one way that Tenerife can protect its status as a hot holiday spot that won’t have her reputation damaged as being environmentally unfriendly.

The island is vulnerable because it is so dependent on tourism. Changing climates could easily put them out of business and entirely change the nature of the island. Rising temperature alone could make relaxing on the beach an unbearable past-time, so acting to stop global warming makes a lot of the sense for Tenerife.

Travelling to and around Tenerife

Travel is a major cause of environmental concerns and a ferry is available to take holidaymakers to the island of Tenerife from the Spanish mainland. The ferry goes to either Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Los Cristanos. Nearly half a million visitors come to the island of Tenerife via cruise ships.

The main method of transportation on the island of Tenerife is buses. An elaborate fleet of newer buses which have less of a carbon footprint provide transportation for one location to another on the island. There are also plans for a light rail network to connect the capital with the south side of the island. The idea is to reduce the amount of carbon emissions in the air caused by ground travel.

Tenerife Goes Green

Tenerife is doing a lot to protect its beautiful and natural environment. The island has made a commitment to individuals and companies to go beyond the basics and protect the environment of the island with aggressive tactics.

Some of the things they are currently doing include:

* To use water purification and its natural reserves from underground.

* To promote recycling as a means to cut back on using natural resources.

* To use desalination for non drinking water.

* Cutting back on carbon emissions.

* An elaborate bus network to minimize traffic on the island.

* To protect the habitat of tropical pilot whales, which is a huge attraction for holiday-makers.

* Zoning half of the islandas either a national park or nature reserves.

* Promoting more renewable energy.

In addition to protecting the island’s natural surroundings, Tenerife is dedicated to preserving its heritage and culture.

Tenerife as a Role Model for Protecting the Environment

While we all have seen some of the effects of global warming, Tenerife has taken action to protect the environment and retain the beauty and reputation of the island. The steps they’ve taken to reduce emissions and balance carbon in the air are ongoing and under regular review.

Dr. Ripudaman Singh asked:

ter and Class Room Environment

Lighting is one of the most overlooked and underemphasized components of our indoor environment. Whether working at the computer or in a warehouse arena, our field of vision needs to be free of reflections and sources of glare. Our lighting needs to prevent problems, not cause them. Lighting is effective when it allows us to see the details of a given task easily and accurately. Comfort in lighting is a very individual concern, and must be addressed on a one-to-one level; no one lighting pattern will work for every working situation. Those in charge of classroom lighting need to learn what is available to help them make the right choices for the students. As lighting and vision are interdependent factors, both must be considered when designing a classroom environment for maximum efficiency. It is imperative that we increase our awareness and knowledge of how lighting affects schoolwork.

Poor lighting can be a source of visual headaches, which most often occur toward the front of the head (there are a few exceptions to this), or toward the middle or end of the day. They do not appear upon awakening, often occur in a different pattern on weekends than during the week, and can occur on one side of the head more than the other. Other symptoms—such as eyestrain, tired eyes, double vision, and red or dry eyes—are more general.

An important factor that affects our ability to see well is the quality of light. Good-quality light creates good visibility and visual comfort, and involves brightness, contrast, as well as the quantity and the color of light. Contrast between a task object and its immediate background must be sufficient to enable the student to clearly view the task. The contrast ratios involved in classroom lighting should be considered so rooms can be set up to maximize productivity without increasing eyestrain.

Too much or too little light can inhibit the student’s ability to see the task effectively. Comfortable light levels will vary with the individual as well as the task. The more rapid, repetitive, and lengthy the task, the more important it is to have enough light. With these types of tasks, the eye is more vulnerable to fatigue and the student or worker to declined productivity. Children often use computers in a home or classroom with less than optimum lighting. The lighting level for the proper use of a computer is about half as bright as that normally found in a classroom. Increased light levels can contribute to excessive glare and problems associated with adjusting the eyes to different levels of light.

Different colors of light will create different moods or atmospheres that will affect a student’s sense of well-being and level of productivity. Color-corrected lights come closest to nature’s light, imitating the color rendition of the noonday sun and adding a whole new sense of well-being to the classroom environment. This can be achieved by altering the lighting sources, or installing a special filter that can be placed between the lens and lamp of a fixture, or fit as a sleeve over each lamp. People designing classrooms, especially for computer use, must understand a number of important factors that should affect the choice of lamps and/or lighting products.

Classroom lighting that was acceptable in the past is no longer acceptable today. The average ambient light levels in most classrooms are too high, too inefficient, and too costly. The trend now calls for reduced ambient lighting, supplemented by adjustable task lighting. Recommended light levels for today’s computerized classroom is 40-50 foot-candles for ambient light, compared to 100 foot-candles or more in previous noncomputerized offices. Many classrooms have no task lighting, yet readily available task lighting systems are advanced, versatile, and can illuminate work surfaces and tasks without creating veiling reflections or glare on VDT screens or work surfaces.

Lighting a classroom for maximum efficiency is a nice concept. In the real world of budgets and bottom-lines, however, cost effectiveness is also a major consideration. The cost of energy, of new lighting fixtures, of retrofitting, of remodeling, and more are all significant considerations that must be balanced to achieve the most for the money spent. It might help to know that approximately 86% of the cost of lighting covers energy consumption, while only 3% involves the price of the lamp. Therefore, purchasing cheaper lamps does not necessarily lead to cost savings; these are achieved by purchasing lamps that consume power more efficiently.

The following recommendations will lead to good classroom lighting decisions:

1) Learning to observe the types of lighting available to a student and to develop ongoing awareness of how they may or may not be working;

2) Identifying risk factors, such as glare and reflections, and the many options for correcting these factors;

3) Developing solutions that involve teacher responsibility, administrative cooperation and caring, and realistic cost-effective improvements.

Joshua St Hilaire asked:

Growing up in South Boston definitely had a great influence on my life. As I entered my teenage years, I began to identify with my surroundings more and more. I found myself wearing certain clothes, listening to certain music, and even the vocabulary I communicated with was not my own. Rather, it was something that was impressed upon me from my peers.

This society that I lived in made a great impact on even my outlook on life. The people I associated with did not have any aspiration to attend college when they graduated High School, so I found going to college less attractive. Even though my parents pushed me toward higher learning, they were not as effective as the influence of my peers. The reason for that is simple. I spent more time with my peers and I held them in high regard. Therefore, I valued their opinions more when it came to the things that mattered most to me.

When I was a sophomore in High School, my life took a sharp turn. My Father landed a good paying job and within no time, my parents started looking for a house in the upper middle class part of town. Sure enough, before I started my Junior year we had settled into a new home on the opposite side of town and the people and surroundings felt very strange to me.

When I started school that fall, the first thing I noticed was that everyone wore different clothes and listened to different music. I thought to myself, “Great. Now I am surrounded by the people I once made fun of.” I went further and believed that there was no way I would ever dress like them or listen to the same music.

After about 6 months of attending this new school and living in this new neighborhood, I found myself once again wearing new clothes and listening to different music. It was almost like this society which surrounded me was really the deciding factor in those things I would desire. It is kind of like if you are with ten people who all enjoy poetry, you begin to find an interest in it as well.

As an adult, I learned the reason for this. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that all of our actions are the result of either our genetics or the environment that surrounds us. We have no control over our genetics, and as children, we have very little control over our environment. As we age, however, there is one factor where we can make a choice: which society will we place ourselves in and allow to influence us?

Whether we like it or not, the society will create in us certain desires for those things that are valued by the society in general. So if you are a scientist and want to be influenced by great scientific thinkers, then the best place to go is a place where there are others with the same ambitions in life. Likewise, if you aspire to be a musician, you will probably choose not to associate with scientists but with other musicians.

If we recognize the power of this choice, then we can use it to help us achieve our goals in life. If you are struggling to reach your goals, take a look around you. Do others value that same goal? If not, where can you find others with similar aspirations? If you can do that, you will be immeasurably closer to achieving your dreams. In the long run, making a conscious choice about your environment is the first and most important step towards changing yourself.

How a positive spin is great on protecting the environment and experiencing life to the fullest while embracing the power of nature.

Centuries have passed while putting a positive spin on protecting the environment.

First and foremost, you’d want to prevent fires. especially forest fires by keeping it green from classic to elegant for industries that built our towns, communities and cities. Although, they say that coal, timbers, and glass all have played an important role into what we have begun and what we have to offer.

However, the beauty has evolved through towns and people have always sought new heights into protecting the environment to the highest point amidst the beauty by putting a positive spin on it. Meaning: high peaks and the highest point in the environment. So you’d want to make it a phenomenal view for nature watching in order to plan vacations and relax. first, you would have to keep everything right next to where you’d want to record everything happening in the environment to just keeping it fresh and clean.

You’d also want to multi-surface and multi-task. although, it’s a known fact that fresh plants make your environment gloomy and dreary and you wouldn’t want to leave the environment in perils. so, you’d definitely want to reshape the environment and just wouldn’t want to wait another minute for a bad look to come about.

However, putting a signature spin on protecting nature which changes a lot especially if someone else is trying to put negative spins on everything else around it because everyone knows that each winter blasts that we have, usually blankets the country and throughout the whole Tri-state area. Although, people have made too many priorities that weren’t kept when dealing with the environment.

for instance: Wintery precipitation is like this: how you pick your car, is like picking a crop and like paving away from what is reality and what’s not reality.

The cattle: Thinking of the cattle, farms, and crops you’ll need fresh crops with finishing touches on everything else around you in order to build the economy for consumer rights.

With tree recycling: You should remove all dead branches meaning you’ll need to landscape.

The mountains: Mountains make it an awesome place on the planet spectacular and want to explore the amazing outdoors and surroundings and you’d want to be able to enjoy the great outdoors in order to be able to have it where the animals and birds can breathe and run around.

However, having a positive spin on protecting the environment is a spirit of adventure with a bold new attitude and determination with a spiritual eloquence almost like a land of enchantment with the whole palm springs look which brings modern ingenuity. however, its a place where people might want to have a positive look on protecting the environment to where you can grow and maintain fresh crops in order to eat great and make the environment a special place to discover.

Although, a changing environment will continue to affect people in many different parts of the world in unique ways and statistics on the environment provides an excellent way for us to determine whether the environment is improving or worsening. humans are treating the environment better or worse than they have done in the past.

Although, pollution, hazardous waste, and many other environmental problems usually creates a major health threat for people around the world which is an environmental health organization that works with agencies in the developing world to try to eradicate harmful diseases. we can also make significant strides to improve the planet that we share by doing this.

VIP: We should recycle

-eliminate the use of electrical appliances for things that you can easily do by hand.

-Use cold water in the washer whenever possible

-don’t ever leave water running needlessly

-flush the toilet less often

-recycle cans, bottles, paper bags and definitely, recycle your christmas tree.

And last, but not least: teaching children t respect nature and the environment.

If we don’t do these steps and teach our children to do those things involving the environment and our surroundings and then we wouldn’t have a positive spin and it would continue to leave a negative spin on the world.

There are a lot of simple but beneficial things around us which we may be taking for granted without us noticing it. In a workplace for example, there are a lot of factors which affects the productivity of an employee, but the employer seem not to care about it for the reason, they may be thinking that it does not affect their employees at all? Physical, Psychological, Mental and Social factors, these are only a few of the top contributors affecting the performance of an employee on work. The impact that it bring is not a little thing that we should not give in any considerations.

Employees are the best asset that a company can have, they can only do two things, first, they can put the company on top and second is the reciprocal, and they can put your company down. Big companies spend millions to enhance their employees productivity, training on team building, personality development and career upgrade are just few examples of the projects that they conduct.

Do you know that the working space affects the performance of an employee? An unhealthy working space does not promote an atmosphere conducive for working. How would you know if you’re working space can be considered a healthy working environment? Based from the article written by Ron Prewitt entitled “Signs of a Healthy Working Environment” the first sign is when employees laugh often, he stressed that humor is a sign of comfort. Employees that feel comfortable with co-workers and have joy in their work will exhibit laughter throughout the day. Another is when employees freely share their ideas. It will answer the question “does the management have an open door policy?” Employees need a safe environment to share their ideas. These are just a few signs of a healthy working environment.

To answer the needs of the employees for a healthier working environment, the company invests in having a commercial interior designer who knows how to create an environment where employees are being encouraged to do their jobs.

Having a healthier working environment is a worthy investment; it’s not just a matter of improving the inner look of the company but the employee’s morale as well.

Steve Evans asked:

spects of our environment most invoked when we talk about keeping the environment clean are liter and water pollution. We will discuss both in this article.

Litter is ugly and it can harm people and wildlife. Picking up litter can be costly for cities and highway departments.

Dog fouling in public places (another form of litter) is a serious health risk, particularly for young children.

Cigarette ***** are another unpleasant form of litter. They may seem small, but with several trillion ***** littered every year they are the number one source of litter in this county. For more, go to www.cigarettelitter.org . Cigarette ***** make up a large part of much urban litter and they can take up to 12 years to break down.

So how do we keep litter off our public places and keep the environment clean?

The answer is, of course, firstly educate the public to take their litter home, and when they do not, it is necessary to ensure that efficient street cleaning is provided.

Street cleaning is controlled by the Department of Public Works in all towns and cities and is usually removed by appointed contractors or the Council’s own direct labor force. When it works well you will usually find that the local businesses take an active interest in assisting in streamlining the process with also making further regular consultation with the community. Street cleaning is often, but not always, carried out for extended hours, and these hours may range from 8 am until 12 or 2 pm in our big cities. Street cleaning is an absolute necessity in all modern well run cities.

Street cleansing is a manual task and labor is a significant cost. Satisfaction with the cleanliness of streets and commercial areas has improved in the UK since privatization. One reason likely for this is that previously the Council’s staff had to be the policemen ensuring the efficiency of their own work. Human nature is such that to be on both sides of such a role seldom works efficiently.

Street cleansing is only a part of city housekeeping which in this article is just a part of how to keep the environment clean. The council (municipal) health department\’s business is to see that all the people have pure air, pure water, pure food, and are protected from contagious diseases.

Street cleaning is an important element of city housekeeping and is provided more and more by highly mechanized equipment such as through the use of street sweepers and flushers. Most streets are scheduled for cleaning at least five times per year, and paved alleys are cleaned once.

Street cleaning must always be strictly enforced, and react to events when litter will build up more quickly, but without clean water in the rivers and streams throughout the city the municipal authorities could hardly be said to be keeping the environment clean.

River Pollution

The avoidance of river pollution is if anything more essential than street cleansing, especially where the poorer population must rely on the river water for domestic and even drinking water use.

If asked how to keep the environment clean from river pollution we would have to say by collecting all sewage and treating it before allowing it to discharge back into the river downstream.

River pollution is the most devastative phenomena to health in the poor and developing. Pollution is occurring when the water shows an alteration of physical and chemical parameters such as odor, taste, colour, turbidity.

If polluted water is tested in a water quality analysis laboratory there are a number of tell-tale changes you will notice. These are exemplified by changes in total hardness, pH, chlorides etc. Expect to see BOD, and COD in increased quantities as well, among others.

River pollution is a serious problem. In recent years there has been a growing awareness of the issues involved but, at the same time, continued urbanization and industrialization and the continued growth of population produce ever-increasing amounts of waste for disposal.

Dangerously, River pollution is concentrated around urban areas. River Pollution is a major environmental problem today, but we don’t seem to be making as much progress as we should. Perhaps the reason is ideological?

Where sewage treatment plants have been installed the levels of indicator bacteria and nitrogen in the discharge should be tracked to measure management performance. If a failure in discharge quality occurs the municipal authorities must act to determine changes needed in monitoring protocol to avoid any further occurrences. It is important to also report progress and recommendations to inform planning and management decision-makers. Levels of any pollutant can be measured by water quality testing methods, and once the analysis has been provided it is always important to check the data carefully against the legal standards. For example, the State of Florida sets the safe health standard for bacteria as less than 1000 fecal coliform bacteria per 100 milliliters.

The most common sources of pollution are domestic water discharges from the houses in the catchment area, and uncontrolled dumps of solid domestic wastes along tributary banks and in dry ravines. Industrial discharge can be a major cause of pollution. Each industrial discharge usually contains chemicals and organic compounds which can enter the bodies of many aquatic animals. Even ground water can be polluted from the soakage pits, septic tanks, manure, garbage, etc. and that eventually discharges to the rivers still worsening the problem.

Industrial pollutants from smaller units continue to be a problem. While most of the large and medium industrial units have put up treatment plants and are using them. 40 per cent of the industrial waste seen in one example - a whopping 4000 mld - is from small scale industries in cities and residential colonies.
